Our Story
Founded to do solar the right way
SBZ Solar started with a frustration shared by its founders: too many homeowners were being sold systems by salespeople who never saw the roof, designed by software that never accounted for a single tree, and installed by crews who vanished the moment the last panel went up.
We built the opposite of that. Every SBZ system is engineered before we quote it, installed by our own certified crews, and supported for its entire life. We answer our own phones. We stand behind our own work. And we’re right here in Western Pennsylvania — not a national chain routing you through a call center three time zones away.
Our Approach
Engineering first, sales never
The solar industry has a reputation problem, and it’s earned. Too much of it runs on door-to-door pressure, financing gimmicks, and systems designed by software that never accounts for the tree in your backyard. We built SBZ Solar to be the opposite — a company where the engineering comes first and the sale, if it makes sense, follows from the numbers.
In practice that means we’d rather talk you out of an oversized system than sell you one. Before we quote a price, we analyse a full year of your utility data, inspect your roof, run a LiDAR-based shading study, and model production hour by hour against decades of Pittsburgh weather.
Because we self-perform design, permitting and installation with our own crews, there’s never a subcontractor to blame when something needs to be right. One team owns your project from the first phone call through decades of monitoring.
